First Stop Kleinmond

We pushed off from Gordons Bay in blustering wind, we made it up the hill and came across the Shark Spotters on the R44 at Kogel Bay prior to reaching Rooi-Els on the R44, we stopped along the road to grab some shade and a drink of water even though the wind was hammering us it was swelteringly hot. We were taking things fairly easily so as to build up our fitness.  We had spent the last 2 months studing for our Final Matric Exams and had not had much time to prepare for what will be 45 days on our bicycles. We stopped in Betty's Bay for lunch, rolls, lettuce, cheese and tomato which we enjoyed in the shade of an empty undercover parking garage so as to get a bit of shade.

After our short lunch break we headed off again towards Kleinmond, we had to cross the Palmiet River to get there and could not resist leaning our bicycles against the railing of the road and jumping into the cool water below.

We made it to Kleinmond before 4pm having cycled a little over 50km, we were fortunate to have been offered accommodation by family who own a holiday house there and hung our hammocks in the trees and chilled for the rest of the afternoon.  We are excited about the journey ahead of us and hope to create awareness about lowering your skin cancer risk by being SunSmart.  Please support us by logging onto our facebook page: www.facebook.com/wingsatourfeet and donate to CANSA.

Thank You for the great send off

Tuesday 27 November 10:00am our Friends and Family where braving the 60km wind to wish us well as we left Gordon's Bay our eyes focused on reaching Mozambique.  We hope to meet lots of young people along the way to share the message of what the harmful rays of the sun can do to your skin and the importance of using sunscreen.  Please log onto our facebook page www.facebook.com/wingsatourfeet and Donate to CANSA
